A young Logan mother, popular on TikTok, has faced court for allegedly possessing 30g of methamphetamine and being paid to take other driver’s demerit point suspensions.
Caitlin Grace McArthur, 23, applied for bail in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 28.
The Greenbank mother-of-one was charged with three counts of possession of dangerous drugs, 13 counts of fraud, 12 counts of obtaining or dealing with another person’s information and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Police allege McArthur was found with 30g of methamphetamine that was 75 per cent pure and if found guilty, faces up to three years prison in the higher court.
The court heard she had a history of drug addiction, which was the catalyst for her offending.
McArthur was charged with fraud for allegedly taking $7000 in exchange for falsely nominating herself for other people’s driving fines, tickets or infringements.
Her licence was already suspended so by taking other people’s points it was not affecting her.
The frauds were allegedly committed between November, 2021 and September, 2022 in Kuraby, Kippa-Ring and Woodridge.
Magistrate Eoin Mac Giolla Ri said McArthur needed to check into rehab if he was going to grant her bail.
“Your drug use is a big problem and you need to get bail to a rehab. If you can come back in a few weeks and show that, I will grant you bail,” he said.
“The issue with the frauds, it’s not about the money but about the dishonesty of taking another person’s points.”
The court heard McArthur allegedly bashed her ex-partner on January 29 in Spring Hill in defence as he was refusing to let her leave the house.
She had spent three months in custody but prior to her arrest had spent another eight months behind bars.
McArthur used to live on the Gold Coast in Coolangatta but is seeking to live at Waterford West with her aunty.
She has one video reaching 72,000 views on TikTok.
