Seven fire crews were called to battle a large fire that broke out at a Gold Coast Hinterland property.

Emergency services were called to Wallaby Drive, Mudgeeraba around 1.30pm Friday to reports of a shed and motor home blaze.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished around 2pm and three crews remained to dampen down the residential property.

Fire investigators were probing the cause of the blaze.

A neighbour said he heard small explosions coming from the shed and motor home.

Firefighters at the scene believed the fire started as a result of the motor home charging and appeared have originated at the charging point.

They added the owners were lucky the wind was blowing the way it was.

Station officer Michael Pignolet said the motor home was fully engulfed on arrival.

“As the fire got hotter, the shed started coming down on the motor home,” he said.

“We were able to isolate the fire to the RV and maintain little damage to the shed.”

Neighbours initially came to the owners’ aid with garden hoses before emergency services arrived.

One woman was on the property at the time but was inside a nearby house.

She was taken to hospital for an unrelated reason.
