An armed robber has allegedly whipped out a knife and zipped away on an electric scooter stolen from a Gold Coast home after residents confronted him and chased him outside.

AN ARMED robber has allegedly whipped out a knife and zipped away on an electric scooter stolen from a Gold Coast home after residents confronted him and chased him outside.

Gold Coast police believe the 32-year-old man broke into the home on Richmond Ave at Bundall about 2.10am on Thursday.

It’s alleged he “disturbed the residents, who chased the man outside”.

“He presented a knife before fleeing on an electric scooter he had stolen from the residence,” a police spokeswoman said.

Officers responded, searched the nearby area and took the man into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of burglary, armed robbery and possession of a dangerous drug.

He was expected to face Southport Magistrates Court later on Thursday.

Coast man critical after savage overnight stabbing

July 22: Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the chest and left for dead on a Gold Coast street overnight.

Gold Coast police were called to Milbrook Crescent at Pimpama shortly after midnight.

A 33-year-old Coast man found in the street had suffered two puncture wounds to his chest.

“Early investigations indicate the man was involved in an altercation with another man known to him when he was wounded,” Queensland Police stated.

“The offender fled the scene after the incident.”

The victim was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Investigations were ongoing on Wednesday morning.

Paramedics were called to the incident about midnight, a statement read.

They took the critically injured man to the hospital “with chest injuries following an alleged wounding at a private address”.

Woman gets ciggies delivered via drone to Coast quarantine hotel

July 19: A woman who organised a drone to deliver a pack of cigarettes to her Broadbeach hotel quarantine room has been slapped with a fine.

Police said the woman organised the drone to deliver the cigarettes to the balcony of her room while she was in hotel quarantine on July 11.

The 44-year-old woman was able to collect the cigarettes from the drone before it flew off.

She was fined $1334 for failing to comply with a Covid-19 direction.

Driver’s car collides with pillar

July 18: A young man spent the remainder of his weekend in hospital after the vehicle he was driving collided with a pillar while travelling southbound along the M1 on Sunday morning.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, lost control as he neared the off-ramp at Pimpama just before 9am, leading to extensive traffic delays for about an hour.

Traffic was reduced to just two lanes which caused congestion to build for about 8km back to Ormeau.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed a patient was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
