LABOR is warning it must win Gold Coast seats to retain Government after tomorrow’s election.

The results of exclusive polling released today show Labor should pick up enough southeastern seats to counter losses in the regions to One Nation.

In a statement released this morning, Labor’s strategy was to warn voters that the outcome would be close and not to presume Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk would lead the next government.

Earlier Bulletin polling shows the new seat of Bonney, on a two-party preferred vote, is split 50-50 between Labor and LNP.

Labor is counting on Bonney and possibly Gaven to get fresh MPs on the Glitter Strip, and if a swing occurs considers Currumbin, Burleigh and Southport will come into play.

Bonney Labor candidate Rowan Holzberger said every single Coast vote

would count.

“With a tight election looming, it could be up to Gold Coasters to stop an unholy

marriage between Tim Nicholls and Pauline Hanson,” he told the Bulletin.

“We know Tim Nicholls stands for cuts, and One Nation brings chaos wherever they

go, so there’ll be no playing nice in the sand.”

Gaven Labor candidate Meagan Scanlon predicted the Coast was in the box seat

to decide who would be Premier.

“Gold Coasters will decide whether it’s a Surfers Paradise honeymoon for Tim

Nicholls and One Nation, or send them to the divorce courts,” the young lawyer said.

“The fate of Queensland is on the Gold Coast’s shoulders, stability under Annastacia

Palaszczuk, or cuts and chaos under Tim Nicholls and One Nation, a partnership

from hell.”

“Only a vote for Labor can keep Pauline Hanson out of the Gold Coast.”

“Wall to wall LNP representation has nothing for the Coast. It’s time for an injection

of fresh energy, which only Labor can bring.”

“The LNP has taken the Gold Coast for granted for far too long. It’s time to shake

things up.”

Labor Currumbin candidate Georgi Leader predicted a LNP-One Nation

coalition of cuts and chaos would have severe consequences for the Coast economy.

“Every day the Palaszczuk Labor Government is working hard to sell the Gold Coast

to international Tourism markets, especially in the Asia Pacific region,” she said.

“No one should forget the fears Pauline Hanson caused overseas the last time she

held seats in Queensland.”

“As Treasurer Tim Nicholls slashed $188 million from tourism. God help the Coast if

they hold power together.”
