PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk is promising Labor will have a candidate in every seat on the Gold Coast.
Labor still hadn’t confirmed yesterday any candidates for senior LNP MP John-Paul Langbroek’s safe seat of Surfers Paradise, Broadwater or Mermaid Beach.
Nominations for candidates ahead of the November 25 election close tomorrow (Tuesday).
Asked yesterday if Labor would be standing candidates in every Gold Coast seat, she said: “Yes, that’s our intention.
“We will definitely have Labor candidates in all Gold Coast seats,” she told the Bulletin.
A week ago Labor unveiled Gail Hislop would stand in Burleigh and Dr Judy Searle would be the Labor candidate for Southport.
The news came a week after the Bulletin revealed Labor had yet to fill candidates for six of 11 seats on the Glitter Strip.
Despite Ms Palaszczuk’s promise yesterday, Labor’s campaign focus on the Gold Coast has been resourcing the most marginal LNP seats of Gaven and Bonney in the north along with Currumbin in the south.
Labor is standing lawyer Meaghan Scanlon in Gaven and Rowan Holzberger is standing in the new seat of Bonney.
