Gold Coasters can now take a walk down memory lane as Southport is heading back to the 60s with retro-inspired milk bar, Pop’s, officially open for business.

Pop’s is the latest venue to come out of hospitality team Jacinto Group, which founder Jem Jacinto says aims to put a smile on everyone’s face when they walk in.

“I don’t know why I didn’t do a concept like this sooner because it’s such a happy business.

“It’s our flagship of this concept here for this demographic and for just to put smiles on people’s faces so you can come here, even if you don’t buy anything at least you get a smile,” he said.

Mr Jacinto said Pop’s had been in the works for 12 months before opening and their menu was heavily inspired by the old milk bar menus of the 50s and 60s.

“We’ve got old school jaffles, a spaghetti jaffle like everyone’s had when they were younger, cheesy baked beans, we have some nostalgic stuff and the burgers are really Australian style, you know, old milk bar style.

“Everyone deserves quality and we need to bring that balance between value and quality... we have, you know, waffles, spiders and our gelato thick shakes,” he said.

The Jacinto Group has recently opened two new venues in Brisbane, poke bowl outlet Finn Poke and burger joint Two Yolks both arrived in Brisbane’s Southside in early June.

It was the fifth location for Finn Poke which also has locations in Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach, Byron Bay and Sydney and the second locations for the Burleigh Heads burger venue Two Yolks.

Pop’s Milk Bar is located at Southport Park Shopping Centre.
