Investigator of collapsed builder Queensland One Homes hits hurdles finding company documents

A LIQUIDATOR looking into the collapse of Queensland One Homes has come up against some interesting challenges in his search for answers.

AN investigation to find money owed to creditors of failed builder Queensland One Homes has so far failed to unearth documents required to get to the bottom of the company’s collapse.

The Gold Coast company went into liquidation in July, owing subcontractors and others more than $3 million.

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission cancelled their building licence and referred allegations of illegal phoenix activity regarding related company Empire Constructions to ASIC. They confirmed they were investigating a third company, FRD Homes.

In an update to creditors, published on the subbiesunited website, liquidator Michael Caspaney of Menzies Advisory said he had attempted to obtain evidence from Mr Callender for computer records, email accounts and all books and records of the company “with little return”.

Mr Caspaney told creditors he had also pursued a company related to Queensland One Homes with “little or no return”.

He said he had also reviewed deeds of novation made by the company; written to the company’s debtors demanding payment; liaised with creditors; interviewed former employees of the company; and “dealt with many other issues that are at this stage considered privileged and thus I am unable to disclose the details”.

His investigations are continuing.

A meeting of creditors will be held at 5pm on September 25.
