Iconic Gold Coast seafood restaurant Omeros Brothers is opening a coastal-themed takeaway fish and chip restaurant this weekend. Find out the central location of the Omeros Fishbar.

ICONIC Gold Coast seafood restaurant Omeros Brothers is opening a coastal-themed takeaway fish and chip restaurant at Benowa Waters Shopping Centre this weekend.

Owner John Omeros said Omeros Fishbar was the new sister restaurant to its multi-award winning venue Omeros Bro Seafood Restaurant at Marina Mirage.

“This has been in the pipeline for the past 15 years, we’ve always wanted to get a little takeaway thing happening and when COVID came this space presented itself and the rent was fantastic so it gave me the push I needed,” he said.

“We’re planning a soft opening first and unlike the mothership over Marina Mirage this restaurant will be pretty casual with fish and chips available to dine in or takeaway.

“It has a very coastal feel, with navy and neutral colours and a suave but relaxed fit-out.

“The fully licensed restaurant is also going to offer BYO, wine only.”

Mr Omeros said the opportunity to establish a more relaxing dining environment arose during COVID, with the space “ticking all the boxes”.

“The space is really cool and has a great vibe, we’re stoked with it actually and lots of people have been coming in while we’ve been setting up and going ‘wow, we can’t wait until you open’,” he said.

“With the demographics in the area we’re expecting to really fill a gap in the market. Of course we’ll be delivering the same high quality food that’s served up at Omeros Bros but at a reasonable price.

“We’ll also offer the same service that the mothership offers.

“You can’t beat the view offered at Omeros Bros at Marina Mirage, but sometimes it’s a bit hard to go all that way and this restaurant is a casual midweek offering for people who don’t feel like getting dressed up but want good food and service close to home.”

Mr Omeros said he’d also designed some unique takeaway packaging that included in-built containers for sauces.

“We’ve never seen this style of packaging before and we’re pretty proud to be able to offer this to our customers,” he said.

Omeros Fishbar is shop 1B at Benowa Gardens Shopping Centre at 203 Ashmore Road, opposite Pindara Private Hospital.
