House fire: Gold Coast home destroyed by flames, one injured
The roof of a house in the Gold Coast’s north has “caved in” after a fire started in a garage this morning. One person has been injured.

THE roof of a house in the Gold Coast’s north has “caved in” after a fire started in a garage this morning.
Four firefighter crews, police and paramedics were called to Brampton Court in Pimpama about 7.30am.
It is understood a car went up in flames in the garage.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said about 15m by 20m of the single level brick home’s roof had caved in.
As of 8am the fire was said to be under control and the blaze has since been extinguished.
Beenleigh acting station officer Justin Broadbent could not confirm how the fire started and said the cause was being investigated.

Neighbours on either side of the burning house were left shaken and terrified.
Teenager Jessica Lindsay, who was getting ready for school, said her heart dropped when she saw the house engulfed.
“It’s so scary,” she said.
Her mum Susie Abrahams said neighbour Colin Harris was yelling to them to get out while the kids were preparing for school.
“He was banging on the door saying there’s a fire,” she said.
“The garage on fire was right next to our house, we were really worried.”
Mr Harris said he was getting ready for work when his dog Charlie began to bark at the smoke, grabbing his attention and sparking the dramatic street evacuation.
Another neighbour, Ryan Stewart, said he grabbed a hose from his back yard and began to spray the burning car before firefighters arrived.
“I attempted to water the bonnet of the car,” Mr Stewart said.
“This is the first time I have ever seen a house fire.”
The house’s residents are understood to have evacuated with their dog.
One person was treated by paramedics for burns to their leg.
Neighbours reported the owner of the gutted house had pet snakes and a bird which did not survive.
No other houses in the street were damaged.
