NORTH Burleigh Surf Club’s fearsome evil magpie is still attacking passers-by, forcing locals to conclude its reign of terror is nowhere near over.
‘Hitbird’ is a ferocious magpie who has been swooping multiple victims for more than two weeks.
Gold Coast Bulletin photographer Glenn Hampson figured out the bird had a particular distaste for him and was able to capture the bird mid swoop.
The bird swooped the same photographer multiple times, following him from one side of the surf club to the other and waiting until his back was turned before swooping again.
Hampson returned to the surf club for a job today and said the bird had found him within 30 seconds and did not hesitate to attack.
Matthew Wilson was enjoying a day at the park with his family when Hitbird swooped him too, making contact and slicing his head open.
“I was just walking past when he’s come after me,” the Coomera man said.
“He got me good, I was bleeding pretty badly from my head.
“He didn’t seem to want anyone else — maybe he doesn’t like men.”
