TWO Gold Coast Mums will take to the big screen starring in their own TV show after their web miniseries was picked up by the Ten Network.
Stage Mums tells the story of two Gold Coast stage mothers, Shaz and Trace, as they try to take their teen daughters to the top of the performance scene.
Stars Anna Waters-Massey and Tara Page have been secretly shooting at Ms Waters-Massey’s Gold Coast family home for the past year and can now reveal that the show will air on Channel 11.

Ms Waters-Massey said it started as a way of keeping her and Ms Page active in acting – and then the idea grew and grew.
“I began writing skits for Tara and I to keep us active in acting and to have fun and then the idea grew and a producer came on board.” she said.
“It’s crazy to think we started with just Tara and I in my kitchen posting YouTube videos, which anyone can do – to now where we have a cast of 30 and our own TV show, it just proves anyone can do it.”
Stage Mums draws from Ms Waters-Massey’s time performing and managing her own daughter’s career, but she said she never went overboard.
“Dance costumes were the most expensive, some costumes would be $250-300 and that’s probably the most,” she said.
“Some parents spend way more when they’re doing the competitions, they’re joining agents and every casting sites.
“I guess if you’ve got lots of money, you invest it in what you think is going to get your kid and yourself more opportunities, and that’s what they do.”

The show will feature several guest appearances, including Ms Waters-Massey’s daughter and H20 star Cleo Massey.
Though she said the show is all in good fun she hopes those who see their lives in the characters can laugh at themselves.
“That’s what comedy is, you exaggerate and you enhance, you’re poking fun at society and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” she said.
“You’re holding up a mirror to certain behaviours in society, it’s very tongue in cheek, self-deprecating humour.
“We’re making fun of ourselves, our own behaviours.”
