DAGWOOD dogs, show bags and sideshows are back on the menu for Gold Coasters as the Queensland State Fair opens at Westfield Helensvale today.
With a Queensland Health COVID-safe plan in place, crowds are restricted to 500, social distancing must be adhered to and there’s extra hygiene precautions and hand sanitising stations throughout.

All operators involved have been out of work since March because the entertainment, arts and music industries were the first to be shut down because of COVID restrictions.
The event, hosted by Jimboomba last weekend, gives locals who missed on the Ekka and the Gold Coast Show the chance to enjoy carnival rides, face painting and everyone’s favourite show fare.
Families can enjoy the ferris wheel, tea cups, dodgems and fair favourites such as freshly cooked dagwood dogs, fairy floss and toffee apples.

Parking is free, entry is $2 and rides are pay as you go with both cash and cards accepted.
Showgoers must sign in with QR codes upon entry and once crowds reach 500 then it will be a one-in-one-out system.
Marshalls will be there to enforce social distancing and people are being reminded to stay home if they’re not feeling well.
The fair starts at 5pm until late at the former NightQuarter site at Town Centre Drive in Helensvale. It is in town until September 6.
