THIEVES crashed their car through the shopfront of a Harbour Town outlet store early on Thursday morning, with police appealing to the public for help.

Police were alerted to the brazen robbery attempt at the complex on Oxley Drive, Biggera Waters at around 5am.

The crime scene was covered with smashed glass from the shop front panel, where the car drove through.

“Police are investigating a break and enter at a shopping centre on Oxley Drive Biggera Waters this morning,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

“Initial information indicates that at 5am a car has driven into the store and an unknown quantity of items had been stolen.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

It is unclear what kind of car was used and no one has been taken into custody yet.

Police are urging any motorists with dashcam footage or further information to come forward.

In November, a Tweed Heads jewellery store was the target of a “terrifying” ram raid. Earlier in the year, a stolen car was used to ram raid a Gold Coast convenience store in Burleigh Waters.

More to come.
