A fast-food giant has officially opened its latest store on the southern Gold Coast today and is serving $5 burritos and bowls to celebrate.
Guzman y Gomez (GYG) debuted its new Palm Beach restaurant at 7am on Wednesday after more than three months of renovations to the prominent highway site on the corner of Fifth Ave.
The Mexican eatery, known for its loaded fries and Cali burritos, took over the vacant space left by Fish on Fourth.
Owners of the GYG Palm Beach location Johana Martin and Henry Munoz said they were "excited" to officially open the store.
"Having seen the success of GYG on the Gold Coast, we are so excited to open our doors in Palm Beach," they said.
"Whether you're travelling up or down the coast, GYG Palm Beach gives you more convenience getting authentic and freshly prepared food that is good for you whether it be dining in, ordering through the app or takeaway."
Mr Martin said they had hired more than 50 local crew for the new restaurant.
The opening special of $5 burritos and bowls is for Wednesday only.

Guzman y Gomez will open a new Palm Beach eatery on the Gold Coast Hwy site formerly home to Fish on Fourth.
Fish on Fourth owner Mouhammad Merhabi was also the director and owner of the previous fish and chip shop at the Pavilions Shopping Centre location, Hunky Dory.
Fish on Fourth was locked out after its landlord claimed it was behind on rent.
Three months later, Mexican fast-food giant Guzman y Gomez hopes to open its new restaurant by the end of the year.
“There’s nothing team GYG love doing more than opening new restaurants,” a Guzman y Gomez spokesperson said.
“This new restaurant will give the community more convenience of getting GYG’s 100 per cent clean and freshly prepared menu.”
The Guzman y Gomez spokesperson said the company was on a “mission to reinvent fast food”.
“We genuinely believe that fast food doesn’t have to be bad food,” they said.
“We’re excited to show the Palm Beach community that it’s possible.”
