SOMEONE with sticky fingers and a green thumb has made off with Gold Coast shrubbery, just hours after it was planted.
Gold Coast City Council officers have reported that half a dozen brightly coloured plants disappeared from the Tallowwood Park in Highland Reserve yesterday.
According to councillor for the division, Donna Gates, the plants were only new additions to the garden.
“It is very annoying and disappointing given we have spent $80,000 doing up the playground.
“The plants were a final touch and then the first day they are there, they were stolen,” Cr Gates said.
“This isn’t the first time, we had newly planted roundabouts that were destroyed by hoons recently and other plants that have disappeared.

“It is an irresponsible thing for these fools to do, and a stupid waste of taxpayer dollars to be destroying parks.
“It is clear there is no respect at all for the ratepayers who fund improvements in our suburbs.”
Cr Gates said there are investigations to see if the culprit has been caught on CCTV.
The council will also be exploring the possibility of GPS mechanisms that can be attached to new plants.
“We are asking anyone who may have seen anything to please come forward,” Cr Gates said.
