ONE of the city’s biggest radio stations will undergo a major change in coming weeks, with Gold 92.5 officially being renamed under the Triple M banner.

The station will now be known as 92.5 Triple M, with rebranding set to take effect from Friday November 8.

Southern Cross Austereo said Triple M will remain committed to bringing its audience “the same local stories, news and events that matter to the Gold Coast”.

But while the name will change, Gold Coast General Manager Rod Hockey said listeners won’t see any differences to shows or music, confirming the local line-up including Bridge and Spida and Luke Bradnam will stay on air.

“Our strategy of proudly national and fiercely local allows us to lean into the national reach of the Triple M Network, all the while delivering it in a fiercely local Gold Coast way,” he said.

“Joining the iconic Triple M family provides us with a fantastic opportunity to deliver bigger events, bigger opportunities and a bigger sound to our listeners and clients on the Goldie.”

The move is likely to be bittersweet for Bradnam, who had his Triple M afternoon show axed at the end of last year.

The show, which was broadcast into Brisbane and the Gold Coast, was replaced by a syndicated show out of Melbourne in a cost-cutting measure by Southern Cross Austereo, before being revived on the Gold Coast with Margaux Parker in January.

It follows a renaming of Gold FM’s sister station in July, which moved from SeaFM to Hit90.9.
