A GOLD COAST theme park giant is unaffected by a “completely separate” northern Gold Coast film studio shut down after star Tom Hanks tested positive for coronavirus.
Mr Hanks, who has been on the Gold Coast for shooting of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, confirmed this morning he had tested positive along with wife Rita.
In a statement to the Bulletin soon after, Village Roadshow Studios said the Oxenford studio being used for Elvis was well away from its MovieWorld theme park.
“This has no impact on Warner Bros. Movie World which will continue to operate as normal,” the statement said.
“The Studios are a completely separate facility to the theme park, and are located at a different site, with no links to the theme park.”
It is understood the Hanks are being treated while isolated at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Village Roadshow Studios said it was now working with health authorities.
“There has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 (coronavirus) affecting a member of the production currently filming at Oxenford Studios,” a spokeman said.
“The production is working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.
“The Administration office will continue to operate as normal.”
