Police have charged a man after he allegedly pushed a woman from a van on the M1, leaving her in a critical condition.

Police have charged a man after he allegedly pushed a woman from a van on the M1, leaving her in a critical condition.

Queensland Emergency Services were called to a crash at about 9.30pm on the Pacific Motorway north bound in Pimpama.

Police allege a 21-year-old Shailer Park man pushed a 28-year-old woman out of the car which had stopped on the side of the road.

Police allege the woman hit her head on the concrete barrier before she was rushed to Gold Coast University hospital in a serious condition with a “significant” head injury.

The man then allegedly drove off.

Police then located the Shailer Park man a short time later and was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm (domestic violence) assault (domestic violence) contravention of domestic violence order and driver while disqualified.

On Monday at about 1pm police said the woman was in a critical condition.

The man and woman were known to each other.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates court on Monday morning and his case was adjorned to July 14.

Woman left in serious condition after being hit by car on M1

Police are investigating after a woman was hit by a car on the M1, leaving her in a serious condition.

Queensland Emergency Services were called to a crash at about 9.30pm on the Pacific Motorway north bound in Pimpama.

Gold Coast police said initial investigations into the incident showed the 28-year-old woman exited a car before she was hit on the M1.

Paramedics assessed the woman who had a “significant” head injury and was taken by the High Acuity Response unit and critical care paramedics to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Police said the van which had hit the woman was located a short time later and the driver was assisting police with inquiries.
