Gold Coast Police arrest Miami man after 40 cars were smashed with metal bar at Burleigh Heads

Police have taken a Coast man into custody after he allegedly went on a rampage armed with a metal bar.

POLICE have arrested a Miami man after he allegedly damaged 40 vehicles with a metal bar during an overnight rampage on the Gold Coast.

The man aged in his 40s targeted the vehicles between 11.45pm yesterday and 12.15am this morning along The Esplanade and surrounds at Burleigh Heads, according to a Queensland Police spokesman.

“The offender has walked along The Esplanade, starting from the car park opposite the Burleigh Heads Hotel. He’s used a metal bar to damage the 40 vehicles,” he said.

While police enquiries were continuing, the alleged offender has been taken into custody. No charges had been laid by 5pm this afternoon.

Police have called on any of the vehicle owners who have not spoken to police to come forward by phoning Policelink on 131 444.
