EMERGENCY services have been called to a waterfall in the Gold Coast Hinterland for the second time today after reports a young child may have drowned this afternoon.

Paramedics, Queensland Police and fire crews were called to Cedar Creek Falls shortly before 5pm today after reports a child had “failed to surface” from the water.

They are currently on scene investigating the reported incident.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said there had been reports a child, aged between 10 and 12, had been swimming at the fall in Cedar Creek National Park, off Tamborine Mountain Rd.

It is the second time emergency crews were called out to the location on Friday, with paramedics treating a woman who had reportedly been injured while sliding down the waterfall earlier today.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the woman was believed to have slid about 100 metres and suffered minor abrasions at Cedar Creek National Park about 12.12pm.

Paramedics were expected to winch the woman to safety before taking her to hospital.
