THE Glitter Strip has played host to some of the world’s biggest celebrities and sports stars and they weren’t afraid to party.
From sports stars fighting outside a kebab shop to an Aussie star who was glassed by a stripper, here are some of the biggest celebrities’ wild nights on the Gold Coast.
Eddie McGuire
Collingwood president Eddie McGuire told his critics to “relax” after he was spotted attending a Gold Coast nightclub with his teenage son in September.
McGuire visited the Pink Flamingo at Broadbeach with his 19-year-old son and members of Millionaire Hot Seat crew. Photos of the night out were posted to social media.
The Fox Footy presenter has been an outspoken critic of AFL players who breached the league’s strict biosecurity protocols, and former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett could not resist calling out the “hell of a contradiction”.
Defending his nightclub appearance on Triple M radio the following week, McGuire said he was merely doing research about how venues are reopening in a COVID-19 world as part of his role with Visit Victoria — an organisation that aims to attract tourists to his home state.
Scott McGregor
Exotic dancer Danielle Lee has been found guilty of throwing a glass at Neighbours star Scott McGregor while working at Hollywood Showgirls.
Mr McGregor was left needing three stitches to his lip after Lee threw the glass at him at Hollywood Showgirls in the early hours of April 6.
Magistrate Howden, in his reasoning, said he found Mr McGregor had insulted Lee by calling her a “dirty s***” and a “piece of s***”.
Mr McGregor had denied insulting Lee and said he only politely declined an offer of a private dance.
Magistrate Howden placed Lee on a $1000 good behaviour bond for 18 months.
Lee was also ordered to pay Mr McGregor $80 for his medical bills.
Sydney Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones
Sydney Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones were suspended for 10 games and booted from the Queensland quarantine hub after taking an Uber to Hollywood Showgirls strip club then getting into a fight outside a kebab shop in Surfers Paradise about 3.30am on September 4.
Two-time premiership coach Hardwick at the time said he was incredibly disappointed the club had lost respect and the club’s image meant a lot to him.
But he stressed that “98 per cent of our players know and respect” the AFL’s COVID-19 protocols.
Usain Bolt
Usain Bolt backed up a night of partying on arrival to the Gold Coast in April 2018 with round two out into the wee hours of the morning — again at infamous Sin City bar.
For the second night in a row, the fastest man on the planet occupied a Sin City back corner VIP booth — with the bulk of the Australian and English swim teams joining him inside.
Australian stars seen letting their hair down included freestyler Emma McKeon and golden girl Bronte Campbell who danced her way out the exit soon after 3am.
Freestyler James Magnussen was also partying at the Surfers Paradise nightclub’s front bar after 3am.
Bronte’s sister Cate plus Magnussen and others were earlier up at an official party at Nineteen at the Star hosted by Optus, which is using Bolt as a brand ambassador.
Amber Heard
Aquaman star Amber Heard indulged in a big Glitter Strip party night — keeping Sin City staff on their toes with her order.
The Hollywood A-lister stuck to red wine as she let her hair down with cast and crew on in June 2017 until about 3.30am.
Sin City VIP host Ric Gibson said she turned up unannounced with a group of 20 at about 11.30pm and when he finished at 3.15am they “were still going”.
Sin City manager Charlie Embley said they sorted her group out with a cordoned off VIP booth on arrival and just “let them be”.
