Mr Clark’s daughter posted an emotional update to Facebook.
“Yesterday our lives changed forever. You were taken too soon with no warning,” she said.
“One phone call that changed our lives forever. The pain and emotion we are all feeling is overwhelming and a lot to take on.
I’ll forever hold each and every memory with you so close to my heart. I’ll continue to make you proud because I know you’ll be forever watching me from above.
“You‘re with poppy now and I know you’d be happy up there.
“None of us were ready for you to go dad and there was no way any of us would have seen this coming. But it was your time and now we have you up above watching on forever.
“I’ll always love and miss you. Thank you for everything you have taught and shown me. I promise to make you proud dad.”
Preliminary investigations by the Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit indicate Mr Clark was riding along the road when his motorbike collided head-on with a four-wheel drive travelling in the opposite direction.
Both vehicles burst into flames, sparking a grassfire.
Mr Clark suffered “significant injuries” in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the four-wheel drive, 49, was not seriously injured but was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for medical assessment.
Mr Clark’s death came on the same day 26-year-old Tallai motorcyclist Joshua Mowat died in a fatal crash at Advancetown and a third man was thrown from his bike and lost a leg at Arundel.
Gold Coast Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler has pleaded for motorists to “drive to the speed limit, know your capabilities and know what your limits are”.
He said 19 people had died on city roads in the past year – nine more than last year.
