LOCALS are being urged to reignite their passion for reading as part of the city’s Summer Reading Festival that runs until the end of January.
The Gold Coast City Council event is being held across the city’s libraries with a range of pop-up activities such as poetry over the PA, spontaneous story times and ad lib author reviews.

Mayor Tom Tate, reading Mary’s Last Dance by Mary Li, encouraged Gold Coasters to rediscover what the city’s libraries have to offer.
“There’s nothing better than kicking back with a good book over the summer holidays,” he said.
“Hit the library and grab a ready-to-go bag of staff-recommended reading picks or come in for a browse. You might even discover a new genre to fall in love with this festive season.”
As part of the festival,readers can enter the draw to win a staycation at the newly renovated Paradise Resort Gold Coast by reading or listening to three titles and submitting an entry form by January 24.
