DESIGN pictures have emerged showcasing a proposed $3 million Pimpama Fire and Rescue Station at the northern end of the Gold Coast.
Work is underway with trucks on site as machinery clears the way for an emergency centre to service the fastest growing residential area in the city.
Gaven MP Meaghan Scanlon said the fire station would provide critical fire and rescue services.
“Pimpama and surrounding communities such as Coomera and Jacobs Well are expected to account for 20 per cent of the Gold Coast region’s growth over the next 25 years,” Ms Scanlon said.
“The new station will enhance Queensland Fire and Emergency Services’ operational capability in the Pimpama area.’’
Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford said firefighters had responded to 772 incidents in the Pimpama area in 2018-19.
“This new facility will allow firefighters to continue providing lifesaving services to the people living in and around the area,” Mr Crawford said.
Firefighters would have a modern base and the community could feel “at ease’’ knowing the centre was well equipped, he said.
Hutchinson’s Builders was appointed to undertake the building project.
Completion of the facility is expected later this year.
