A MAJOR Gold Coast festival has announced it will not be returning to the city next year in an emotional Facebook post.
Organisers of Buskers by the Creek, which has just finished up its sixth year, took to social media to announce the decision, citing emotional and financial strain.
Festival founder Cindy Jensen told the Bulletin the announcement has caused her great emotional distress.
“It’s been six years bringing Buskers by the Creek to our city but due to lack of support I have to hang my hat because costs far outweigh the support we receive,” she said.
The Facebook post further detailed the reasons behind the shock decision.
“For the past six years the festival has cost myself and my family hundreds of thousands of dollars and it’s had a huge impact on us emotionally and financially,” the post reads.
“As much as everyone including the acts, food vendors, local businesses and the City have benefited, I have continually struggled to keep my family and the festival afloat.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, each and every sponsor, business, performer, stall holder and especially my festival fans for supporting me over the last six fabulous years.”
Last weekend Buskers by the Creek saw more than 300 musicians, mimes, acrobats and performers take to the stage in Currumbin Creek.
More than 20,000 people were predicted to attend.
The announcement comes just over 24 hours after another Facebook post by the festival which read: “BBTC would never come to life wouthout the extraordinary humans who volunteer their time for nothing but love.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of my family and friends who continue to encourage and support me, with no other rmotive other than to help bring my baby to life.
“Long live Buskers by the Creek.”
