A Gold Coast shopping centre is set to get a big facelift.
Plans have been filed with the Gold Coast City Council to revamp the Marine Parade side of Coolangatta’s The Strand.
Shade shutters are proposed to be placed along the upper floor balcony of the Coolangatta Hotel in the shopping centre.

“The shutters are internal to the balcony balustrade and can be stacked when not in use. It is the intention of the prospective tenant that the frontage remains open, allowing fresh air and light onto the balcony,” a planning report to the council said.
“The shutters will be stacked behind the existing columns when not required.
“The shutters will be closed in inclement weather, which comes in from the south east and makes the balcony space unusable.”
