GOLD Coast Titans co-owner Darryl Kelly has revealed why Oxenford was chosen as the potential site of the NRL side’s proposed leagues club.
The Gold Coast Bulletin revealed on Saturday the club had approached the Gold Coast City Council to lease or buy a parcel of land at Oxenford for a 2500 sq m facility.

If approved by council, it is expected to be ready for the 2021 season, with the club requiring two years for construction and to secure liquor and gaming machine licences.
Mr Kelly said the project would create up to 80 new jobs.
“A process of analysis by external consultants and ourselves inspected many sites and in the end this was viewed as the best available site,” he said.

“One reason for the selection of this site was the facilities that the club will provide to the adjacent community.
“A facility that we believe will enhance the local community as well as provide approximately 80 jobs”
It will be based on the same model as that of the North Queensland Cowboys — a separate football and community club.
