A BEACHSIDE location is set to be transformed into one of the Gold Coast most luxurious addresses – a tower with a design inspired by sea shells.
Plans have been filed with the Gold Coast City Council by developer Andrews Projects for a high-end, 18-storey tower on Broadbeach’s Old Burleigh Rd, just south of the Jewel towers.
The medium-rise tower’s 15 luxury units will each take out an entire floor. The penthouse will cover two levels.
The site is currently occupied by a two-storey, five-unit building which will be demolished.
Each new unit will have multiple balconies with views of the beach and Hinterland.
“The spiral morphology of certain sea shell species and their growth pattern inspired the continuous shape of the sun-shade device that starts at the ground floor and culminates at the roof level,” a planning report on the project said.

“This iconic corner will create a unique sense of arrival to the prospering centre of Broadbeach on approach from the north.”
The project will go before the council’s planning committee for approval next year.
