POLICE have charged a teenager with wounding after a 17-year-old boy from Wongawallan was allegedly stabbed twice in the back at a Surfers Paradise light rail station.

Police allege that two groups of teenage boys became involved in a row at the Cavill Avenue light rail station on Surfers Paradise Boulevard at 11.35pm on Friday night.

Officers said a 17-year-old boy from Wongawallan was stabbed twice in the back and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested another 17-year-old nearby. The boy, from Woodbridge, has since been charged with one count each of wounding and possessing a knife in a public place.

He was expected to appear in the Southport Children’s Court on Saturday morning.

GOLD Coast police have charged a Surfers Paradise man with laundering millions of dollars in cash linked to a drug syndicate.

The 38-year-old man has been accused of money laundering during an ongoing investigation by the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS).

Queensland Police said in a statement detectives raided a residence at Burleigh Waters, seizing a 2008 Peugeot 308.

It’s alleged the man used the Peugeot to transport $2.6 million to another member of the drug syndicate.

The MOCS also executed search warrants at a Bundall home on September 30 last year and again on February 4.

It’s alleged $290,000 and $1.6 million in cash, two firearms and three luxury vehicles valued at $710,000 were seized.

South East Region MOCS Detective Inspector Craig McGrath said the commitment from officers to disrupt crime in the area was evident in the investigation and latest arrest.

“Along with our partner agencies, our focus is to dismantle serious organised crime groups and prosecute those involved,” he said.

“We will continue to investigate, identify and seize proceeds of crime including cash and assets.”
