BELOVED Commonwealth Games mascot Borobi is back. The cuddly blue koala, who became a breakout star of the 2018 Games has got a new home which has been unveiled.
The city has unveiled where the eight Borobi statues which became popular selfie locations during Games will be put.
BOROBI’S POST-GAMES PLANS REVEALED
A very dapper-looking Borobi, dressed to the nines in a sleek black tuxedo, is one of eight statues that will be stationed around our city.
Mayor Tom Tate, attempted to out-tuxedo the 2018 Commonwealth Games Mascot when it was unveiled today.
“Who said koalas are not classy?”, he joked.
Before adding he would begin his acting career in Hollywood as the next 007.

“Exclusive announcement, I am the next James Bond, sorry Idris.”
All jokes aside, the Mayor said he expects Borobi to generate “$2 million dollars worth of selfies”.
“People will come here and smile,” he said. “Every time I saw a Borobi (statue) there were people milling about to take their selfies and share them across the globe.”

“I was never going to let them end up in a dark storeroom, I’m delighted we have secured them for permanent installation across our city.”
He said he’s also working to secure the rights to the loveable blue koala.
“I’ve already written to the minister that we want it, and as a matter of fact, all the intellectual property rights on Borobi, we want to be owned by this city, so if in future if we want to do other memorabilia for Borobi, we can do so,” he said.
“I want it for nothing, it’s feasible. That’s how we roll.”
