THE devastated ruins of the historic Binna Burra lodge have been revealed
Fire crews continued to putting out spot fires at site as a stoic chairman Steve Noakes took his first look at the devastation this afternoon.
The rubble continues to smoulder three days after the lodge was destroyed on Saturday night.
The main building, library reception and one sky lodge went up in the blaze.
Two rows of heritage lodge cottages built in the 1930s were also destroyed.
The pottery shed, the historic Groom cottage, the tea house, camp ground and the barn were saved.
Only the fireplace at the main building remains standing.
Looking over what was left, Mr Noakes said he was trying to remain positive.
Mr Noakes said he saw the fire as an opportunity “like in the 1930’s, because of what is saved we can back to camping experience for now”.
“The former visionaries of the area great I am sure would be as devastated as this current generation is,” he told the Bulletin this afternoon.
“We are laying the foundations now for the next 86 years.
“I’m now thinking ahead at the 172 year time frame it’s going to be a great new future for Binna Burra.”
