Gold Coast Traffic: Motorcyclist seriously injured after Coomera crash

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after a car and motorbike collided on a Gold Coast road.

A MOTORCYCLIST has been seriously injured a crash in Coomera on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to Foxwell Road and Henry Sreet at 6.18pm after reports of a car and motorbike incident.

The 34-year-old motorbike rider has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious abdominal injuries.

THURSDAY

POLICE are investigating after a car crashed and flipped on an Advancetown road leaving two men injured.

Emergency services were called to the vehicle rollover at Nerang Murwillumbah Rd, Numinbah Valley about 2.07pm.

Police say a sedan was travelling north along the road at 1.30pm when the driver lost control and the car rolled.

A 75-year-old male passenger was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious head injuries.

The 53-year-old male driver was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the road was closed in both directions.

TRUCK HITS POWER LINES

A GARBAGE truck has clipped power lines in Southport, bringing them down on the vehicle and prompting a response from firefighters and Energex.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) firefighters were called to the “possible power equipment fire” at the intersection of Bay St and Olive St about 5.55am on Thursday.

They found the JJ Richards truck driver had managed to exit the vehicle safely, even though lines were still draped over the truck, a spokeswoman said.

Firefighters switched off power and Energex was travelling to the incident as of 6.10am.

No emergency outages have been listed on Energex’s website.

Woman arrested after ‘stolen’ rental car crash

Wednesday: A woman is in a Gold Coast hospital under police guard after she allegedly crashed a stolen rental car into another vehicle.
Paramedics were called to the T-bone collision at the intersection of Seventh Ave and the Gold Coast Hwy at Palm Beach about 8.05am Wednesday.

The 26-year-old Eagleby woman is currently in hospital under police guard.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the vehicle the woman was allegedly driving was reported stolen from a Surfers Paradise rental car service in August 2020 after it was not returned.

The woman was not the original renter.

The spokeswoman said the woman was also allegedly found with drugs.

The woman is expected to be charged overnight.

Photos sent to the Bulletin show significant damage to the front and rear of one of the cars.

A southbound lane was blocked in the crash and officers from Queensland Police were directing traffic in the area, a spokeswoman said.

Motorists were advised to exercise caution.

Firefighters from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) were also called assist.

Vehicles smash into light pole and tree on Gold Coast

TWO people have been taken to hospital after separate crashes into a light pole and a tree on the Gold Coast overnight.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics were called after a male of an undisclosed age crashed a vehicle into the light pole on Oakey Creek Rd at Coomera about 1.45am.

He suffered an arm injury and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Earlier, about 6.50pm, paramedics were called to Guanaba Creek Road at Guanaba after a female of an undisclosed age crashed into the tree.

She suffered shoulder and neck injuries and was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

Paramedics were also called to a vehicle fire on Bridgman Dr at Reedy Creek just before 6pm.

Two patients, of an undisclosed age and gender, were assessed for smoke inhalation, but declined to be taken to hospital.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) firefighters attended, but the blaze had been extinguished by an occupant of the vehicle.

Firefighters dampened the vehicle and left about 6.20pm.

QFES also reported a two-vehicle crash at Southport and single-vehicle crash at Helensvale overnight, but no one was injured.
