Industry experts have revealed the Gold Coast is yet to completely shed its partying image to the rest of Australia – but it’s headed in a new direction.

THE Gold Coast has yet to completely shed its “partying” image to the rest of Australia, according to industry experts.

The Creative Collective founder Yvette Adams said the Gold Coast was still seen as a hotspot for night-life rather than a family destination.

The Sunshine Coast-based company also has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Auckland.

“We all (on the Sunshine Coast) think of it as much busier and more hectic, a place you go to party,” Ms Adams said.

“And for a holiday if you want more of a hectic, more activity-based holiday rather than a chill out holiday.

But she added major events like the Commonwealth Games and the impact of COVID-19 were steering the Glitter Strip in a new direction.

“It’s all a matter of perspective, and the Gold Coast (became) a place you would invest or stay in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games,” she said.

“I think some places changed quite dramatically after that in terms of the long-term leases that became available.

“I’m currently working with some property developers on the Gold Coast and I know the southern end, like Palm Beach, is really doing well at the moment.”
