MORE than 800 workers have walked off the $1.4 billion Jewel development in Surfers Paradise.
Workers say they are furious that there has been no communication after 120 workers were sacked last week, leaving hundreds others unsure if they would again be required at the site.
Tradies have now removed their tool boxes off the site and others are waving CFMEU flags.
WHERE TRADIES CAN FIND WORK ON GOLD COAST
Discussions between CFMEU officials and contractors began early this morning and ran for more than an hour as employees endured the anxious wait to hear the news.
CFMEU organiser Jade Ingham said workers weren’t told why they were to stop working.
He said they were informed it was due to a redesign, but not what the redesign was or how many more would lose their jobs.
He called on both Yuhu Group and builder Multiplex to come forward and tell the workers what is happening on the site.
“It is unheard of for this to happen two thirds of the way into the project,” he said.

Hundreds of construction workers have been left in limbo since last Wednesday.
This week building owner Yuhu, gave no explanation for the hold up and told disgruntled workers to speak with builder Multiplex.
