Fuel price hike forces up cost of Gold Coast petrol by 40cpl in one morning

Now is the time to fill up with the cost of fuel leaping by more than 40 cents per litre this morning in some parts of the Coast. Find out where you can still nab a bargain.

SKY-HIGH petrol prices have Gold Coast motorists rushing to find a deal with fuel costs climbing rapidly this morning.

By 11am there was a 40.2 cent per litre difference between petrol stations on the Coast.

Some were less than 100 metres apart.

In Labrador, 7-Eleven on the Gold Coast Highway was offering Unleaded 91 for 125.9 cpl, while across the road Caltex had already hiked up its price to 165.9 cpl.

It was a similar case in Molendinar as Freedom on Olsen Ave sat at 125.9 cpl, compared to Coles Express at 165.9 cpl.

An RACQ spokeswoman said 45 per cent of Gold Coast petrol prices has jacked up prices to over 160 cpl.

She recommended drivers fill up if they see fuel for 134 cpl or less.

Across the Coast this morning the cheapest fuel was found in Carrara, Southport, Labrador, Worongary, Merrimac and Broadbeach Waters.
