Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has touched down in Sydney ahead of a rare Gold Coast visit.
Spotted dining at the Bathers’ Pavilion in Sydney on Friday night with husband Doug Emhoff, Harris is expected to arrive on the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon ahead of what will be her first speaking engagement in Australia.
The former US presidential candidate who was defeated by US President Donald Trump in November, will take part in an hour-long Q&A at the Australasian Real Estate Conference (AREC) on Sunday.
Hosted at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, organisers have hailed her attendance as a major coup for the city, while 4000 guests will undergo a vigorous security screening by either US Secret Service or venue staff.
Harris will be accompanied by a full security detail.
