We can now reveal the 48 finalists. Vote for your favourite in the poll below.

Voting for the poll closes at 6pm on March 22.

SHANINE COLLAVINO NAMED AS FINALIST

Upper Coomera teacher Shanine Collavino has received an astounding amount of nominations along with heartfelt messages from parents and fellow teachers saying she “is one of a kind”.

Ms Collavino teaches at St Stephen’s College and just four months ago tragically lost her husband and fellow teacher Mario Collavino.

St Stephen’s College teacher Katrina Thomson said Ms Collavino “inspired” her.

“The dedication and commitment she displays towards her prep teaching every single day is unmatched,” she said.

“Every child who has the opportunity to step foot in her classroom is so fortunate to have her and to experience the magic of her teaching.”

A parent from the school said Ms Collavino would dress in different styles to suit what she was teaching that day.

“The children line up each and every day patiently waiting to see how Shanine is dressed,” Britto Muir said.

“The classroom is like a children’s wonderland with constantly changing areas and the children’s work is displayed so proudly.”

Another parent said she “wished” she had a teacher like Ms Collavino when she was younger.

“I’m so thankful that my daughter was lucky enough to have the experience.”

In the wake of her husband’s sudden passing in October, a GoFundMe was created to raise funds for Ms Collavino and their four children: Danielle, Antonio, Luca and Arianna.

At the time, Jessica Wheildon donated $100 to the Collavino family and said her heart was “breaking” for the family.

“Wishing you moments and strength and solace as you reflect on your most precious memories of Mario,” she said.

“You are a strong beacon of light Shanine, and while you may not feel it right now, or for some time, know that I (along with many others) believe in you and support you.”

Ms Collavino asked everyone who went to the memorial to write down their favourite memory of Mr Collavino, which she plans to compile into a book for their children.
