Ferry Rd, Minnie St, Southport: Car missing number plates, driver banks up traffic

Frustrated Gold Coast drivers have been banked up in a traffic jam by a mysteriously parked BMW left on a road, with its driver and number plates nowhere to be seen.

A metallic brown BMW X3, missing both its number plates and driver, could be seen banking up traffic in Southport on Tuesday.

The sedan had stopped and put on its hazard lights near the Minnie St turn off from Ferry Rd, a busy multi-lane passageway near Mr Mechanical.

Confused drivers could be seen queuing up behind the parked car around 1pm, with some beeping their horns in frustration.

There was no driver in the BMW.

The abandoned vehicle was reported to authorities, but the circumstances surrounding it are not yet clear.

“Police will be doing some investigative work and running enquiries on the ground,” a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.
