FEDERAL Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has been mocked for sharing a crude mock-up of the Gold Coast skyline including a ridiculously oversized chimney.
Mr Albanese shared the image in an effort to draw attention to the possible impacts of adopting nuclear power after Energy Minister Angus Taylor yesterday said the Federal Government had an “open mind” on the issue.
The Labor leader said that “if the Government had their way”, postcards from the Gold Coast “would look like this”.
But the post, which shows a chimney by the beach which is almost as high as the Q1, quickly backfired.
“I like you, but this is a moronic post Albo,” wrote Ol Wills. “Nuclear needs to be on the agenda.”

Multiple commentators took Albanese for task for suggesting a power plant would be built in Surfer’s Paradise.
“Albo needs to talk to his social media manager before he becomes known for sounding like a peanut that thinks someone would actually build a reactor in Surfer’s Paradise,” Brian Kieryczuk wrote.
“This is cringe-worthy,” Adam Wilding said. “Nuclear is feasible and would work well for this country. Obviously it’s never going to involve reactors on the Gold Coast.”
WHY IT MAY BE TIME NUCLEAR POWER IS CONSIDERED
Minister for Science and Technology and MP for McPherson Karen Andrews told the Bulletin Mr Albanese’s post showed Labor remains out of touch with the electorate.
“I’d suggest Labor spend more time listening to why voters rejected them at the election and less on stunts,” she said.
“The Government and I will not be distracted. We are and will continue to deliver for the hardworking Gold Coasters who have put their trust in us.”

Mr Taylor had yesterday been asked at Question Time in federal parliament whether he would rule out building a nuclear power station in northern New South Wales or on the Gold Coast.
“We’re not focused on the (energy) fuel source, we are focused on the outcome, and we currently have a moratorium on nuclear power in Australia. And the government has no plans to change that,” Mr Taylor said. “Now we always approach these things with an open mind, but we do not have a plan to change the moratorium.”
