Expert Kebabs Gold Coast claps back at online complaint with damning CCTV footage

A woman who took to social media to complain about a Coast kebab shop has had her complaint backfire spectacularly after the restaurant owner released damning footage.

Uber Eats driver sneaks a chip from customers order caught on CCTV

A WOMAN who took to a Gold Coast community group page to complain about a kebab shop has had her complaint backfire spectacularly after the restaurant owners set things straight.

Yesterday, a woman posted to the Pacific Pines Community Group For Residents and Businesses page explaining that her family had ordered $75 worth of food — three kebabs and a pizza — from Expert Kebabs in Pacifc Pines.

She claimed that they only received the three kebabs, but no pizza, and when they complained to the store, they “became hostile and hung up on my husband.”

At first, social media users sympathised with her, while others asked how the family failed to realise their pizza was missing when they picked it up.

One user wrote: “Pizza is a rather large item, weird that it wasn’t noticed when the order was picked up … spend $75 and collect 3 items ???? (sic)”

But before long, it emerged that the family had used Uber Eats to have their food delivered and it was likely their driver had failed to give them the pizza.

Then the restaurant owners stepped in with a post to the page, as well as damning CCTV footage.

The man then takes the pizza box off the counter.

In the video, a grey-haired Uber Eats driver can be seen taking the order from across the counter.

He appears to struggle with the pizza box in the bag before putting the kebabs in first, then taking the pizza away by hand.

In the post, the restaurant owner writes: “This is regarding the misunderstanding on Expert Kebabs. We got an Uber order this evening of $75. Order includes kebabs with meals and pizza

“We made and hand (sic) over the kebab and pizza to the Uber driver and Uber driver just delivered kebab to the customer

“He took pizza for himself instead of giving to the customer and we have the evidence for that … We are trying our best to keep customers happy and we are very sorry for the inconvenience.”

Social media users straight away leapt to the defence of the shop owner.

One person wrote: “You can’t blame the kebab place. It costs them a bucket load to even offer Uber eats.”

Another said: “Yes, that is Uber’s responsibility, not the restaurant. I’ve been refunded from Uber before.”

While most agreed it was indeed the Uber Eats driver who took the pizza, others still agreed the complaint could have been better handled — from both parties.

It’s understood the order was refunded, but unclear whether the driver was reported.
