Emergency services have raced to a fire on the northern Gold Coast with residents capturing images of a black cloud of smoke that could be seen from suburbs away.
Police and fire crews were called to the blaze off the Old Pacific Hwy in Pimpama at around 10.50am on Friday.
It is believed tyres were set alight.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said seven crews were called to the scene.
Fireys were able to contain the fire around 12pm and one crew remained on site to monitor the area.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said officers were helping with traffic control.
Traffic was building in the area and causing delays on the M1 around 11.20am.
