ELVIS has left the building.

The Gold Coast’s best known Elvis impersonator and former mayoral candidate, Dean Vegas, has put his sprawling eight-bedroom Ormeau acreage property up for auction.

Mr Vegas has already vacated the property he renovated and co-owns with his two brothers, Jim and Robert Eleid, and which formed his base for 10 years.

It might not rate compared to the real Elvis’s mansion, Graceland, but the creative floorplan has four kitchens and five living areas which allowed all three brothers to occupy the residence with their families while still having their privacy.

Essentially four homes under the one roof, it allowed his two children to grow up alongside their cousins.

“We’re a close family,” Mr Vegas said.

“Everyone has their own private sections and entries and you could go a week or so without even seeing them.

“At the same time you have the peace of mind someone is always home and you are close to each other.

“It’s sad after having it so long and being together so long that we have to sell it, but everyone moves on.

“You get the right family in here and they’re going to have a wonderful, wonderful time.”

The house, which exceeds 465sq m, wraps around a pool and entertaining courtyard and sits at the end of an idyllic cul-de-sac.

“Ormeau is perfect, you’re halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane,” Mr Vegas said.

“You are close to everything but far enough away so that all you hear is the birds.

“It’s a wonderful spot.”

Marketing agent Debra Frinke, of LJ Hooker Ormeau, said a huge turnout was expected on auction day and she expected the property to break some records in terms of price.

She said interest had included investors, big families and tradies from the Gold Coast, Brisbane and interstate.

“It’s an indication of families coming together with today’s cost of living and wanting to rent big properties — and they can with this property,” she said.

“We’ve had people register to say they will be attending the auction so that has been really exciting and we have had offers prior to the auction but not enough to stop the auction.”

The house, at 19 Wille Ct, Ormeau is open for inspection from 12pm on Saturday ahead of its 1pm auction.
