The family of an elderly Earle Haven resident now in a critical condition have described the chaos surrounding the closure of the nursing home’s aged care wing as a “disgrace.”

THE family of the elderly Earle Haven resident now in a critical condition have described the chaos surrounding the closure of the nursing home’s aged care wing as a “disgrace.”

The elderly year-old woman who was one of the 71 evacuees during chaotic scenes on Thursday night, remains in the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

According to authorities the woman had fallen and injured herself after she had been transferred from the Nerang nursing home to another facility on the Gold Coast.

She had not been injured during the transfer.

A family member who asked to remain anonymous said they were devastated by the situation.

“Our family would prefer to remain quiet at the moment we are concentrating on her only,” the woman said. “Only words I have is that it is a disgrace.”
