After hundreds of suggestions, the Dreamworld team decided on a name of roaring power, Khan.

The man who named the cub, Gerald Moller thought he received a prank call when told his suggestion was chosen.

“I never expected to win, I am very happy that he was named by me,” Mr Moller said.

The inspiration for the name came from a Tiger he had seen many years ago in Europe.

“I saw the cub’s face and I thought it had similar markings to a tiger named Khan I had seen overseas.

A name fit for a king.

“It is a very pronounced Asian ruler name, and the tiger is a ruler of the animal kingdom.”

Tigers are currently classified as Very High Risk of Extinction in the Wild with only 4,000 of the big cats remaining in their natural environments.

The name Khan reflects the tiger dynasty that the cub has been born into and his duty to his endangered cousins.

The four week old tiger is healthy and ready to join his nephews Javi, Zakari and family on Tiger Island as soon as his vaccinations are complete.
