Dreaming big at Robina’s first children’s art exhibit

Think big - that’s the message at Robina’s first children’s art exhibition this month.

FOR her latest exhibition, Rebecca Thew decided to think big.

The Pacific Pines art teacher said she will open Robina’s first children’s art exhibition later this month.

“Most kids had never created a piece larger than an A3 sheet of paper so we conceived the idea to go BIG,” she said.

Ms Thew, 37, created the Dream Big! exhibition to give her students aged 5-12 years the unique opportunity to display their art in a professional setting.

“Eighteen of the Coast’s youngest artists from Coombabah to Pacific Pines will have their art featured with the aim of boosting their confidence,” she said.

“For children as young as 5, the results are incredible.”

She said she was surprised how difficult it was to find a gallery that would agree to display kids’ artwork.

“None of the galleries I reached out to were interested until we found the Robina Community Gallery,” she said.

Her students, from nine different schools across the Coast, designed their own plus-sized artwork over a four-month period.
