IN a boost for dog owners, Gold Coast council is proposing to officially designate 13 new areas where pooches can be walked off-leash.
The new dog-friendly locations are included in a list of proposed amendments to the animal control register published by council.
The list also includes changes to a number existing off-leash areas, one of which, at Boulevard Park in Parkwood, will become on-leash only.
The majority of new off-leash areas are in the northern Gold Coast, with three at Pimpama, and two each at Coomera and Ormeau.
However there are also new dogs parks proposed at Burleigh Heads and Currumbin Waters.
