A PROFESSIONAL snake handler has warned locals to steer clear of a sea snake spotted on a Gold Coast beach this morning – saying its highly toxic venom could put you in a funeral home.
The olive headed sea snake was filmed at Broadbeach today by Harris Noy.
Gold Coast and Brisbane Snake Catcher Tony Harrison said it would have “very very toxic” venom.

Mr Harrison said sea snakes were usually placid and would only strike at a human if they were picked up.
“It is one of the more common snakes you get on Gold Coast beaches,” he said.
“We get at least five of those a year and about one yellow belly sea snake.”
Mr Harrison said he was called to remove 15-20 snakes on Gold Coast beaches a year.
A few were sea snakes while others came from land.
He said if you spotted a snake on the beach you should contact the council and if there was one in your property, call a snake catcher.
