Date of Gold Coast Show holiday confirmed

Mayor Tom Tate has confirmed when the city’s residents will enjoy a day off for the Gold Coast Show.

THE date has been confirmed for this year’s Gold Coast Show public holiday.

Mayor Tom Tate made the announcement this morning the public holiday will be held on Friday August 14.

It is the same date of Brisbane’s Ekka public holiday.

Cr Tate is predicting there will be a tourism boom due to the Gold Coast having its holiday on the same date.

“Brisbane, Logan, south East Queensland - we are having a Show day together,” he said.

“Some partners are working in two locations so it’s good that they can take a holiday together.

“Let each region promote. I’d be happy to go to other regions and check out what they have to offer.

“I welcome people from Brisbane to come and check out what we have to offer here.”

The Show itself will not take place until December 11-13 after being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
