Guests at a new Gold Coast restaurant say they have crossed paths with many Australian animals, including Curly the emu.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary opened their new fine-dining restaurant, The Homestead in May and head chef Chris Hicking says it has been a success.
“It’s a dining experience unlike any other (and) guests can sit and relax while taking in views across our kangaroo paddock,” he said.
One of the main attractions at The Homestead was Curly the emu, who wanders up to guests as they arrive.
Visiting from New Zealand, Catherine Martley said they strolled past a koala when they went for a bite to eat at the new venue.
Aside from the encounters with native wildlife, Mr Hicking said the restaurant’s menu was another reason for its success.
“Our patio platter is a fantastic option that our guests are loving,” he said.
“It comes with a wattle seed damper, local cured meats and bush tomato relish.
“This goes down well with our most popular cocktail, the Koala Crush.”
The restaurant, which doubles as a wedding and events venue, is open seven days a week to all Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary visitors.
