Gold Coast City Council Election 2020: All candidates in running so far
With the final cut-off date looming to nominate for the Gold Coast council election, here are the dozens of candidates who’ve already thrown their hat in the ring.

A RECORD field of candidates are expected to stand in the March 28 Gold Coast City Council poll when nominations close at 11am tomorrow.
Electoral Commission of Queensland nominations show Derek Martin Rosborough has put his hand up to beat Mayor Tom Tate who intends to stand for a third term.
The other mayoral candidates are Mona Hecke, Brett Lambert, Gary Pead and Virginia Freebody.
Many candidates are yet to complete the exhaustive paperwork for nominations.

Ahead of the cut-off, only councillors Donna Gates (Division 3), Peter Young (Division 5) and Hermann Vorster (Division 11) are unopposed.
At least four new councillors will be elected. This will occur in Divisions 1, 6, 7, and 10.
The changes are due to new boundaries and retirements of Gary Baildon in Surfers Paradise, Dawn Crichlow in Southport and Paul Taylor in Broadbeach.
Those boundary changes have led to councillors Kristyn Boulton and Cameron Caldwell contesting the new Division 4.
The biggest campaigns are being fought in the north in Division 1, in the Southport CBD and the new Surfers Paradise-Broadbeach division.
In terms of key dates, the ballot draw will be on Wednesday. Pre-polling starts on March 16.
The Bulletin will stage six forums in which residents can put questions to the candidates, starting on March 10.
